It is free. All of it.

Every tool on MotoIQ costs nothing to use. A paid plan for features that cost money to run is planned, but it does not exist yet and nothing on this site can be bought.

Questions

The straight answers.

Is MotoIQ really free?

Yes. Every tool on the site is free to use today, with no account, no card and no usage limits. There is no payment system on the site.

What would a paid plan add?

Features that cost money to run, like vehicle history reports from a data provider or syncing your saved data between devices. The intent is for a paid plan to add features on top of the free tools, not to put today's tools behind a paywall.

When will the paid plan launch, and what will it cost?

There is no date and no price yet. It is not built. When it is ready, this page will show the real price and what is included before anyone is asked to pay.

Where is my data stored?

In your own browser. Saved deals, comps and checklist progress are kept in your browser's local storage on the device you used. There is no MotoIQ account or database. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them, and they do not move to other devices.

Where does the VIN and recall data come from?

From NHTSA, the US government vehicle safety agency. Your browser requests it from NHTSA's public vPIC and recalls services when you look up a VIN. It does not include accident, owner or mileage history.

Are the profit and repair cost numbers guaranteed?

No. They are estimates built from the numbers you enter and general cost ranges. Get an in-person inspection, a real shop quote and your own comps before you buy.
