Privacy policy

MotoIQ does not have user accounts, sign-ups or logins, and does not run a database of users or their data. You do not give us a name, email address or payment details to use any tool.

Some tools save your work using your browser's local storage, a small storage area on your own device. This data is not sent to MotoIQ.

• ·Comp Tracker: the comps you log.
• ·Mechanic Checklist: the items you flag.

This data stays on the device and browser you used. It does not sync to other devices, and it is deleted if you clear your browser's site data for MotoIQ or remove it inside the tool. Other tools keep what you type only while the page is open.

When one tool sends numbers to another (for example a repair total into the Deal Analyzer), the numbers and a short vehicle label are passed in the page address. They are not stored by MotoIQ.

When you decode a VIN, your browser sends that VIN directly to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vPIC service. To look up recalls, your browser then sends the vehicle's make, model and year to NHTSA's public recalls service. These requests go from your browser to NHTSA and do not pass through MotoIQ's server. NHTSA handles them under its own policies.

The Flip Playbook is the one tool that sends what you type to MotoIQ's server:

• ·Fault interpretation. The vehicle you enter and your description of what is wrong with it are sent to this site's server. The server may forward them to Anthropic's Claude API to work out the likely problems and parts. If that service is not available, the server uses simple keyword matching instead.
• ·Part prices. When you look up prices, the part name is sent to this site's server, which searches eBay's Browse API for current listings.

MotoIQ does not save these requests to a database. Anthropic and eBay receive the text needed to answer each request and handle it under their own privacy policies. Please do not type personal details, such as names, phone numbers or addresses, into the Flip Playbook.

MotoIQ does not set cookies and does not use tracking pixels, ad networks or session recording. Fonts are served from this site, not loaded from a third party.

To see which pages and tools people use, MotoIQ uses Vercel Web Analytics. It does not use cookies or follow you across other sites. For each page view it records the page path (never the numbers a tool puts in the address), the site that linked you here, your browser, operating system, device type and country. Visits are grouped using a short-lived value that resets every day, so they cannot be tied to you over time. Your IP address is not stored. The numbers are only used in aggregate, to decide what to improve.

Like most websites, the hosting provider that serves MotoIQ may keep standard technical logs of requests, such as IP address, browser type and time, for security and to keep the site running.

The Comp Tracker and Flip Playbook link out to marketplaces, parts sellers and search engines, including Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, AutoTrader, Cars.com, CarGurus, Copart, IAAI, eBay, Amazon, RockAuto, AutoZone and Google. The search words you entered are included in those links. Once you open one, that site's own privacy policy applies.

MotoIQ does not sell or rent personal data, and does not share it with advertisers. The only third parties that receive anything are the services named above: Anthropic, eBay and NHTSA only to answer the request you made, and Vercel to host the site and count visits.

If MotoIQ adds accounts, payments, analytics or anything else that changes how data is handled, this page will be updated to say exactly what is collected and how to delete it, before that feature goes live. The date at the top shows the last change.
